Allabaugh, one of the most recognized basketball officials in Wyoming Valley, is one of 123 men in the United States to be elected to lifetime membership in the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials. He lettered for two years in track and basketball and four years in both football and baseball at Meyers High School. He signed a Pittsburg Pirates contract in 1945, but before beginning his baseball career went into the Navy. There, he attended the Llyod Leigh School of Officiating. Allabaugh worked for 30 years as an official in football, basketball and baseball, and served as president of the Wyoming Valley Chapter of PIAA Officials for two terms.
