About This Inductee

Thomas graduated from Kingston High School in 1964 and Wilkes College in 1968. At Wilkes College Tom was the tennis team captain in 1966, 1967 and 1968 and won the MVP award in 1956, 1966, 1967 and 1968. He was #1 in singles four years (36 wins, 8 loses) and #1 in doubles four years (28 wins, 16 loses). In college soccer, he was a three-year starting goalie and team captain in 1967. He was teacher, coach and athletic director at Wyoming Seminary Day/Lower School from 1969-2001. He was athletic director at Lake Lehman High School from 2005-2012. At Wyoming Seminary Lower School, Tom coached soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, softball, cross country, lacrosse and field hockey. At Wyoming Seminary’s Prep School, he coached soccer from 1983-1993 and won the school’s first ever District II championship. At Wilkes College he coached men’s soccer from 1970-1975 and men’s tennis from 1969-1984. He was the Wyoming Valley Tennis Association’s men’s singles winner three years (1967-1969) and men’s doubles winner (1969 and 1970). He was Wilkes College’s Open Tourney mixed doubles winner in 1971. Tom has also been a PIAA sports official in the following sports: soccer, football, basketball and track and field. He was inducted into the Wilkes University Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.
