About This Inductee

Gary was championship wrestler at Crestwood School District under Rich Testa and assistant coaches Rich Caruso and Bob Williams. His 1977-1979 record was 92-11-1. He was a two-time Roof Garden Champion, two-time Top Hat winner, three-time District II champ and three-time NE Regional Place winner (3rd-3rd-2nd). Gary was also a three-time PIAA Place winner (4th-1st-2nd) and was the first University under coach Ed Carlin Gary’s record was 88-17-1. A four-year letterman, he was tri-captain his senior year. He was a three-time EIWA Place winner (5th-3rd-5th), a 1981 NCAA Qualifier (2 wins in the Top 12), three-time Cornell Open Champion (’81-’82). In 1981, he wrestled in the National Freestyle Championships in Arizona for the New York Athletic Club. He was also Locke Haven Mat Town Individual Champion and Penn State Invitational Champion in 1983. He went undefeated his senior year (14-0-1) and ranked 5th in the country when a knee injury ended his college career. In 1986 he wrestled professionally with the Professional Freestyle Wrestling Association in Atlantic City, Iowa and Asbury Park, New Jersey. From 1984-1986 Gary coached at Wilkes University with head coach John Reese. From 1985-1989, he was a founding member and coach of Wyoming Valley Freestyle Association. From 2003-2005 he was Tunkhannock High School’s assistant wrestling coach and from 2005-2008 was Tunkhannock Youth Wrestling Coach. From 2008-2012 he was tournament director at the PJW Area X East Sectional Qualifier and 2010-2011 was on the PA Junior Wrestling State Committee to bring PJW States to Wilkes-Barre at the Mohegan Sun Arena. 2012 to present, Gary has been the chairman of PJW Area XII (a new area formed from Area X). From 2009 to the present, Gary has been Tunkhannock High School’s volunteer wrestling coach. From 2008-2011, Gary was on the Board of Directors of the PA Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Gary is senior account manager at Golden Business Machines, Inc. He has been married to the formed Jeanette Faux since 1988. They reside in Falls, PA and have three sons – Joshua 22, Jacob 20 and Benjamin 17.
