Samuel graduated from Hazleton High School in 1963 where he was a 3-year letterman in football, a 1-year. letterman in basketball, and a 3-year letterman in track. In track, he held the record in the 440 (time & wins). His 4-lap relay team held record for times and wins. In football he was rushing leader for 2 years, rushing average leader for 2 years, and 2nd in touchdowns for 2 years. He played both offense and defense (RB, CB). Samuel was awarded a full football scholarship to Bucknell University in Lewisburg where he was a 3-year letterman playing RB and WR. His teams won the Lambert Tro­phy for the best small college in East Middle Atlantic Conference Championship Bowl Game. He graduated from Bucknell University in 1967 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. He also received a M.Ed. in Secondary Counseling from Kutztown University and a Supervisory Certificate from Scranton University. Samuel accepted a position at Hazleton Area School District as an educator from 1967 to 1982. He was assis­tant football coach for 3 years and assistant baseball coach for 1 year. At present he is the Administrator of the Hazleton Area School District. Samuel was recently promoted to Director of Federal Programs and Guidance Services. Samuel is married to the former Janine Zukovich, and has 4 children and 1 grandchild. Samuel makes his home in Tamaqua, Pa.
