Ronald L Swindle Ron graduated from Lake Noxen High School in 1957 where he was a four-year letterman in both wrestling and baseball. He was 1957 Athlete of the Year, a member of the 1957 Rural Urban League championship wrestling team, and a member of the All-Star wrestling team that introduced wrestling to Scranton. He was an outstanding pitcher in baseball, and during his senior year he pitched 10 of 10 games for Lake Noxen with 75 strikeouts and 2.18 ERA. His batting average was .406 and he held a .963 fielding average. In 1958 he earned a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitching. From 1956-1962 he played in the Bi-County League and accumulated 158 strikeouts in 105 innings with a 1.63 ERA and a batting average of .481. He coached the first teeners baseball team in Noxen. He also coached the Beaumont teeners from 1978 to 1982 where he won league championships in 1980-81 and runner up in 1982. His wrestling experience is exceptional. In 1978 he established the Noxen Sinker elementary program and continued coaching for 22 years. The Striker Wrestling team became the feeder system for Dallas, Tunkhannock, Lake Lehman and other local schools. Through the Striker program, Ron started the Black Knights Elementary program. He was a volunteer coach at Lake Lehman and became an assistant in 1998, where they never had a losing season. In 6 of the 10 years they won district titles. The program has produced numerous AAU Champions and place winners. Ron is also a volunteer coach for the Northeast Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling Club in Pittston. He was named to the Lake Lehman Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1991 after 30 years in coaching wrestling. Ron’s community service is also exceptional including the Times Leader Humanitarian in 1984 and the establishment of the Noxen Athletic Club. He is married to Sandra L. and has two children Ronald Jr. and Cynthia L. Baker.
