Michael graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School in Philipsburg, Pa. He went on to attend Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pa. with a B.S. in Education. He has taught in the Tullahoma City Schools in Tullahoma, Tenn., Hampton City Schools in Hampton, Va., Delaware Valley in Milford, Pa., and Philipsburg-Osceola in Philipsburg, Pa. Michael was assistant varsity coach at Philipsburg-Osceola from 1973-1979. From 1979-1985, he was head varsity coach at Delaware Valley, head varsity coach at Bethel High School from 1985-1994, and head varsity coach at Tullahoma High School from 1994-1997. Michael has coached the Eastern Team in the 1993 Virginia High School All-Star Game. He coached in a summer league for college players. He also organized summer basketball camps at Delaware Valley, Bethel and Tullahoma. He organized the Tri-State Summer League at Delaware Valley. His coaching honors have been many: the 1976 Mountain League Champs, the 1984 Pocono Mountain League Champs, 1985 Pocono Mountain League Champs, the 1986 Fort Eustis Christmas Tournament Champs, 1992 Fort Eustis Christmas Tournament Champs, the 1993 Virginia AAA State Champions (highest classification in Virginia), 1993 Eastern Region Champs, 1993 Peninsula District Tournament Champs, 1993 Peninsula District Champs, 1993 State Championship Coach Virginia High School League, and the 1993 Coach of the Year Peninsula District. Michael’s basketball tournaments include: 1986 War Memorial in Johnstown, Pa., 1987 Governor’s Cup in Tallahassee, Fl., 1988 North Carolina United Bank in Wilmington, N.C., 1989 Arby’s Class in Bristol, Tenn., and the 1993 Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Michael resides in Tullahoma Tennessee with his wife, Janet, a secondary English teacher. He has 2 children, Ryan, a senior at Tullahoma High School, and Heather, a senior at the University of Virginia.
