About This Inductee

Joe graduated form Wyoming Valley West High School where he played basketball and football. He participated in basketball from 9th through 11th grade and football from 9th grade through his senior year, earning four letters. He captained the football team in his senior year and was chosen first Team All Scholastic. He was selected to play in the UNICO and Big 33 games. Joe received a full athletic scholarship to Temple University and lettered from his sophomore through his senior yeas. He was a member of the Triple T Club and received Lineman of the Week accolades. Joe was a track and field official with the Wyoming Valley Conference. He was the 9th grade head football coach at Wyoming Valley West 1973-1975 and assistant varsity coach 1975-1982. HE was also head girls volleyball coach and 8th grade boys’ basketball coach 1975-1978. He has also coached Luzerne county flag football and Swoyersville Girls softball. Joe is currently in his 33rd year of teaching at the Wyoming Velley West School. District. Joe and his wife Deborah reside in Swoyersville and are the parents of three: Nichole, Kathryn and Matthew. He is one of the five brothers inducted into the Luzerne County/John Louis Popple Sports Hall of Fame.
