About This Inductee

A 1956 graduate of Luzerne High School, Jack earned 7 letters-3 football, 4 baseball. In football, he was All Scholastic Middle Guard and All Conference Center in 1956 and played in two UNICO game. As senior captain of the baseball team, he played on the All-Star Team at first base and hit the first home run out of Connolly Field in Luzerne. Attending Columbia Military Academy Prep School, he played football and captained the baseball team. In 1957 he was All Mid-South in baseball. Attending King’s College, he lettered in football. Jack played semipro baseball for Swoyersville, hitting the first homerun out of Roosevelt field, one of homeruns in 15 games. Jack has refereed high school basketball for 12 years. He was instrumental in organizing the Dallas Youth basketball program in 1976. He also manages and coached baseball in Back Mountain for 10 years. Currently Jack plays first base in the 50 and Older Softball League. Jack has been married to the former Marie Trosko for 41 years. They have 3 sons and 4 grandsons; the oldest grandson, Jon Barbose, plays football for Dallas Area High School.
