About This Inductee

Gay graduated from Forest City High School, furthering her education at Lock Haven University, where she lettered four years in field hockey and lacrosse. Gay coached field hockey for 20 years at Wilkes University. She also coached basketball and started the softball program at Wilkes University. She taught at Wilkes for 33 years. She umpired basketball in the Wyoming Valley for many years. She was nominated for the National Advisor of the Year Award. She ran field hockey summer camps for 6th through 12th graders from 1986-1997 and also ran many field hockey summer leagues. She coached at Bloomsburg University field hockey camps form 1986-1993. She ran the intramurals program at Wilkes University 1990-1997 before moving full-time into teaching early childhood education until her retirement in May 2002. She was elected to the Wilke University Sports Hall of Fame in 2004 and received the Athletics “Ancestral Colonel” Award in October of 2010 for her lifetime achievements. She was the advisor to the Wilkes University Ski Club for 20 years and use to be an avid skier and golfer herself. She is the mother of one – Dr. Lee Meyers Pollaro.
