David played baseball and football as a young athlete, but while at Wyoming Valley West High School, track and field became his primary sport. In 1981, as a sophomore, he was high school District Champion in javelin, 1982 District Champ in javelin and long jump, and 1983 District Champ in javelin and triple jump. Also in 1983 he was high school State Champion in javelin, setting a PA State record. While at Penn State University, David was the 1986 and 1987 ICAA Decathlon Champion. Also 1987, he was the Penn Relays Champion in the Decathlon and javelin. At the NCAA Division I National Championships, he placed 7th in the Decathlon and was named All American. Also in 1987, he was an East Team Qualifier in the Decathlon at the Olympic Festival. In 1990, he placed 10th in the Decathlon at the Track and Field National Championships, was on the USA National Team vs. Canada in the Decathlon, and placed 2nd on the East Team at the Olympics Festival. In 1991, he placed 7th in Decathlon at the Track and Field National Championships and was on the National Team at the Pan-American Games (Havana, Cuba). In 1992 he was an Olympic Trials qualifier. In 1999 he won 6th place in the javelin at the Track and Field National Championships and in 2000 placed 10th in the javelin at eth Olympic Trials. David has worked in the fitness industry for the last 20 years as a strength coach and club manager. HE has worked for Meridian Sports clubs for the last eighteen years. He currently works as a personal strength coach, group exercise teacher and volunteer track and field coach for Terra Linda High School in California. In his first three years of coaching, David has coached eight MCAL Champions and three CA State qualifiers. David resides in San Rafael, CA area.
