Donna Zurawski-Beck

About This Inductee

At Ss. Peter & Paul School, Donna was second leading scorer on the basketball team in 7th grade and leading scorer in 8th grade. She played on a Wilkes-Barre CYC League championship team, receiving the Offensive Player of the Year Award. She was only the second girl in the school’s history to score 500 points. While attending Plains Junior High School, she was the first female to play on Coughlin’s varsity basketball team as a freshman. At Coughlin High, she was selected to the Citizen’s Voice and Sunday Independent All-Star teams three times. Her average improved from 14.5 points per game to 23 point per game as a senior, leading her team to the District playoffs. She was a 1,000 point scorer, breaking the girls’ all-time scoring record. She finished her career with over 1,500 points. At Wilkes University, she received the Most Improved Defensive Player Award in 1989 and the Scholar-Athlete Award in 1990. Donna has been assistant coach of Seton Catholic’s High School summer league team, assistant coach at Nanticoke Area High School, head coach at Middletown High School in Delaware and assistant coach at Hamburg Area High School in Berks County,. She was inducted into the Plains Township Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Donna is currently senior research associate in a corporation in Bethlehem, PA, where she has received an award for her outstanding service and performance. She is married to Denton E. Beck.
