About This Inductee

Bob McFadden, born June 4th, 1969, starred in four sports from 1984 through 2012. He ran track in 1986 and 1987, cross country 1984 to 1986, played modified softball from 1991 to 1998, and wrestled/refereed wrestling from 1984 through 2012. At Meyers High School, Bob was a three sport stand out in track, cross country, and wrestling from 1984-1987.

In cross country, Bob was a three-year letter winner in 1984, 1985, and 1986. In 1986, he was a district medalist and a PIAA state qualifier and was captain of the Meyers cross country team that finished 14-2 in the Wyoming Valley Conference and placed second in the District II Championships. Bob finished that year being named to the Wyoming Valley Conference/Wyoming Valley Striders All-Star team.

In track, Bob was a two year letter winner in 1986 and 1987. In 1987, he was a District gold medalist and PIAA state qualifier. He won the District II championships with the team in 1986 and 1987 and won a state championship with the team at the 1987 PIAA Track State Championships.

As a wrestler, Bob had many accomplishments in a career that spanned from 1984 to 2012. In his high school career, he was a three-year letter winner, a three-time PIAA State Wrestling Championships Qualifier, had a career wrestling record of 95-9-2, and an undefeated varsity dual record of 53-0-2. He won championships at the Wilkes-Barre City Tournament, Abington Heights Tournament, and Tunkhannock Tournament. In 1986 and 1987, He won the District II Tournament Championships, Northeast Regional Championships, and had third place finishes at the PIAA State Wrestling Championships. He was captain of the 1987 team that went undefeated at 18-0 and were News Watch 16 Super 16 champions. With the team in 1985 and 1987, he won Wyoming Valley Conference championships and the District II Championships. With the team in 1986, he won a Northeast Regional Championship. Individually, Bob was a Citizens Voice All-Star, Times Leader All-Star, Districts II, IV, & XI Challenge of Champions All-Star, two time Hooper Award Runner-up, and the 1987 District II Tournament Outstanding Wrestler. In 1989, he was name by the Citizens Voice as the best Wyoming Valley Conference wrestler at 135 pounds for the years 1969 through 1989.

Bob continued his wrestling career in college from 1987 through 1991. He attended Bucknell University from 1988 to 1989, compiling a record of 12-8 and competed on a team in 1988 that had a dual meet record of 10-3 and was 5-0 in the East Coast Conference, finishing second in the East Coast Conference Tournament. He would transfer to Wilkes University and stay involved with the wrestling team for the 1990 and 1991 wrestling seasons.

After college, Bob continued his athletic career playing modified softball in the Wyoming Valley Modified softball league from 1991 to 1998. In 1993 and 1994, he had a combined .434 batting average while playing second base and would win with the team the Wyoming Valley Modified League championships and the Wyoming Valley Modified Tournament championships.

From 2000 to 2012, Bob became a PIAA and NCAA certified wrestling official in the Wyoming Valley Conference. He officiated events for the National Collegiate Wrestling Conference (NCWA), Metropolitan Conference (MET), and the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA). He officiated the Kings College Invitational, Keystone State Games, Keystone State Games Invitational, NHSCA Fall Festival, Wyoming Valley Conference Championships, District II dual championships, and District II Tournament Championships.

In 2010, Bob was named to the Meyers High School Wrestling Hall of Fame and most recently he was inducted into the Meyers High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.

Bob graduated in 1992 from Wilkes University with a BA in Public Administration and graduated in 2003 from College Misericordia with a Master’s in Organizational Management. He currently resides locally with his wife Tracy and has two children, Scott, and Todd.
