As a youngster, Dave was a member of Hanover Township championship Little League and basketball teams. Dave attended Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia for four years, where he started as a junior and senior on the post graduate varsity basketball team. As a senior, he averaged 16 points and 18 rebounds per game and was named the team’s most outstanding player. Dave was named to the first team in the Virginia Military School League and the All Tournament first team. During the league tournament Dave scored 46 points and pulled down 50 rebounds in two games. Dave’s 30 rebounds in one game were more than the opponents entire team rebound total. Dave next attended King’s College for four years graduating in 1977. In his junior year Dave was named twice to the ECAC weekly team for his play against Villanova, Army and Seton Hall. Wins over Seton Hall and Army that season were some of the biggest in King’s history. In 1977 Dave played professional ball for a short time in France. Dave also played in numerous local softball leagues and has coached 5th grade basketball at St. Nick’s and Hanover Biddy basketball. Dave was appointed by Governor Ridge to the PIAA Oversight Council in 2001 for a three year period. Dave was a member of the Hanover Area School Board from 1985-2007 (board president 1991-1994), president of the Pennsylvania School Board Association in 2000 and has received National School Boards Association Distinguished Service Award. Dave was also a member of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Professional Standards and Practices Commission 1996-2008, Pennsylvania’s Charter School Appeal Board 2001-2011, Pennsylvania School District Liquid Asset Fund 1999-2010 and a trustee on the Pennsylvania School Boards Association Insurance Trust. Dave is the owner of Beer Super in Wilkes-Barre and served fourteen years as president of the Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania. Dave and his wife Sharon reside in Hanover Township and have three children Alexis, David and Alyssa.
