As a youngster, Kenny played on the Junior League basketball all-star team, the Little League basketball all-star team and participated in the Junior Olympics. Kenny started on Nanticoke Area High School’s basketball team as a freshman and played all four years. He was named to the second team all state in 1960 by United Press International, first team all-state 1961 by UPI and AP after the team won the Class A state championship. He played on Pennsylvania’s Big 15 basketball team in 1961. He scored around 2000 points during his high school career at Nanticoke (607 during his senior year). Kenny received a total of 39 basketball scholarship offers and decided upon George Washington University. He was captain of the team as a sophomore, junior and senior, leading average scorer during those years and named All-Southern conference his senior year. Kenny taught high school and college in Virginia and Maine. He coached basketball eight years and was named Coach of the Year in Virginia in 1972. Kenny retired as vice president at Abitibi Bowater Paper Co in 2008. Kenny and his wife Barbara reside in the Plymouth, MA area and are the parents of two: Kenneth Jr. and Keith.
