Born and raised in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, Taylor Dean is the daughter of Jack and Lisa Dean. She took her first steps on the ice at age 6, participating in the Pittston Ice Box’s learn to skate program (now Revolution Ice Centre). There, her love of figure skating was born.

Taylor grew up with the sport as a member of the local Blue Ridge Figure Skating Club (formerly FSC of NEPA). She traveled to various local and national competitions, including the 2009 State Games of America (Colorado), 2010 ISI World Competition (Boston), and 2015 State Games of America (Nebraska). She won numerous gold medals at those events, as well as the Keystone State Games, which she started competing in at the age of 6, attending every year until graduating high school. She later returned to the 2021 Keystone State Games to be the torch bearer at the opening ceremonies in Pittston.

Upon graduating from Crestwood High School, Taylor attended Boston University, where she pursued communications and journalism while competing on the intercollegiate figure skating team. Taylor holds two intercollegiate national gold medals at the novice level. Her dedication to the team as an athlete and co-president helped propel the team to two national titles at the 2017 and 2018 Intercollegiate National Championships, beginning a title-winning streak the team still holds to this day.

In May 2018, Taylor passed her gold freestyle test, the highest level in U.S. Figure Skating. She holds the gold test level in moves in the field and is at the pre-gold level in ice dance. She continues to work on achieving the gold ice dance level to become a triple gold test medalist. In freestyle, Taylor continues to work toward a goal of competing at the 2025 ISU Adult International Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany.

Upon graduation, Taylor moved to Colorado, where she worked in communications at U.S. Figure Skating, continuing to pursue her passion and career at the national level with the sport’s Olympic governing body. She earned the opportunity to travel to the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing as a press officer for U.S. Figure Skating.

Taylor currently works at USA Rugby, where she continues to share athlete stories and spread Olympic inspiration. Her first assignment with the governing body was a month-long journey to New Zealand, where she was the USA Women’s 15s media manager for the 2021 Rugby World Cup (played in September 2022). She will attend the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris as the US women’s sevens rugby press officer. She continues to give back to figure skating as a nonqualifying judge and looks to pursue qualifying and international level appointments.
