Rocco played varsity & baseball at G.A.R. High School and was captain of the basketball team. He then played basketball & baseball at Holy Cross College. Rocco entered the Navy during World War II, played baseball and became an athletic instructor and earned the rank of chief petty officer. After the war, he attended Mansfield University and received his master’s degree from NYU. Rocco played pro basketball for the Wilkes-Barre Barons, Williamsport Billies and Elmira of the Eastern League. Rocco taught and coached in Piermont, NY before accepting the position of Director of Athletics at King’s College in 1950 where he coached baseball and basketball. He started the UNICO East/West All Star football game. Rocco is married to the former Marie Papson of Stroudsburg and is the father of six children: Karen English Wick, Rocco Jr., John, Susan, Coreen and Judy English and has two grandchildren, Kara and Kory.
