About This Inductee

Patton was a graduate of Coughlin High School Class of ’35. He attended Wilkes College, then began his newspaper career with the Wilkes-Barre Record. His column “Patton’s Patter” became a staple for area sports fans during the sixties and seventies. There, Bob reported and opined on everything from high school championships, college bound athletes, aspiring coaches with hometown ties, recreational leagues, professional sports and even an occasional knock on a local coach’s golf game. Patton also served as president of the Eastern League Baseball Writer’s Association and the Press-Radio-Television Sports Association.
