About This Inductee

Bob attended Larksville High School from 1947 to the end of the first semester 1950. He lettered 3 years in football, and 2 years in baseball and basketball. He moved to Wilkes-Barre in mid-year of 1950 and enrolled in Meyers High School. Bob lettered 1 year in football and 2 years in baseball and basketball. He was named to the All-Scholastic Foot­ball Team by both the Wilkes-Barre Morning Record and the Sunday independent. Bob spent a year (1951-52) at Wyoming Seminary and lettered in football and baseball. Bob enrolled in Muhlenberg College in September, 1952. He lettered in football for 3 years and graduated in June, 1956 with a B.S. degree in Mathematics. He also received an M.S. degree in Secondary Administration from Scranton University in 1961. He taught one year (1956-57) at South Side Junior High School in Newburg, N.Y. In 1957, he became a mathematics teacher at West Pittston High School. During this year, he served as an assistant football coach at Larksville High School. The following year he was hired as a mathematics teacher, assistant football coach and assistant basketball coach at Meyers High School. He served under football coach Jack Jones for 4 years and when Jack moved to Temple University in 1962, he was named head football coach. Meyers won the Wyoming Valley Conference title finishing undefeated during the 1962 season. He was head coach of the winning team for the 1963 UNICO game. In March of 1963, he was named head football coach and mathematics teacher at Williamsport High School and served in that capacity for 7 years. In June of 1970, he was named Faculty Manager of Athletics. In July of 1975, the Williamsport Area School Board appointed Bob as the first full-time Athletic Director of the School District. He became a member of the administrative staff and was responsible for the athletic programs in three junior high schools, as well as the senior high school. He served in that capacity until he retired in June of 1995.
