About This Inductee

While at Kingston High School, Ned was a two time District champion, three time District finalist and a Northeast Regional finalist. His high school dual meet record was 36-1-1. He was 1961 team captain and a three-time letterman.  At Wilkes College Ned was an NAIA All-American (3rd) in 1963, Wilkes Open Finalist 1962 and MAC Finalist 1965. He was a three time National Qualifier (1963, 1964, 1965) with a dual meet winning percentage of over .800. In 1965 he was team Captain and a four time letterman. Ned founded the wrestling program in 1968 and has coached three for the past 44 years. The program has more than 400 dual meet wins with two NCAA Division III Champions, four Division III finalists, 18 All-Americans, 28 Conference Champions and two Wilkes Open Champions. The wrestling program has 90+% graduation rate and 33 Scholar All-Americans. He has been inducted into the NCAA Division III Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame. He was named Irish-America Sports Top 50 by the Irish Voice Newspaper in NYC. Ned and his wife Mary Ellen reside in Wilkes-Barre. They have three children, Seana McGinley, Ned Jr., and Bridget McGinley and are the grandparents of seven: James McGinley, Rose McGinley-Kase, Autumn McGinely, Jessie McGinley-Kase, Caileach McGinely, Helen McGinley-Mirin and Evin McGinley-Mirin as well as a great grandson Chance McGinley-Kase.
