About This Inductee

Mike is the only athlete in Fairview High School history to receive eight varsity letters in two sports, baseball and basketball. He played on the Wilkes College baseball team that won the college’s first MAC championship. Mike played 16 years of semi-pro baseball, winning several batting and home run titles. He played on championship baseball teams with Ashley and Mountain Top in the Central League and championship Pringle teams in the Wyoming Valley League. During an invitation-only Philadelphia Phillies tryout games, he hit a home run out of Connie Mack stadium. He played in the Florida Instructional Winter League with the Boston Red Sox organization. Mike managed the U.S.A. National’s women’s baseball team that competed in Japan, and managed the Michigan Stars women’s baseball World Series championship team. He also coached the Florida Legends women’s pro baseball team of the Ladies Professional Baseball League. Mike coached the Siena College women’s softball team to the playoffs of the MAAC. He is retired P.I.A.A. basketball and football official. Mike was founder/organizer of the Mountain Top Area Basketball League, and the Back Mountain girls youth softball league. He coached basketball at St. Jude’s and Gate of Heave. He managed Little League, Teeners and American Legion baseball teams in Mountain Top and Back Mountain. Mike was league commissioner of Wyoming Valley’s 13-year-old boys’ baseball and girls’ junior high school basketball. Mike and his Karen are the proud parents of seven children and 12 grandchildern.
