Marianne graduated from Southern Columbia High School where she played field hockey, basketball and softball. She earned two varsity letters in field hockey, the 1977 and 1978 teams capturing the Columbia County League title and the District IV championship. The 1977 squad was PIAA state runner-up. Co-captain of the basketball team, she earned two varsity letters, with the 1978-1979 team capturing both the Columbia County title and the District IV gold medal. She also earned two varsity softball letters. Marianne earned her B.S> and Master’s Degrees from Bloomsburg University. Upon graduation from high school, Marianne immediately began her career as a PIAA Field Hockey official and has been officiating field hockey for 29 years to date. Her officiating journey includes high school contest as well as NCAA Division II and Division III contests. She often gets invited to participate in inter-district and intra-district playoffs. In 2002, she was selected by the PIAA to officiate the PA State Championship. Marianne has twice served as vice-president of the Wyoming Valley Chapter of Field Hockey Officials. She continues to support local sports by volunteering her time coaching girl’s basketball at St. Nick’s/St. Mary’s school. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Speech/Hearing/Language Association and the American Speech/Hearing/Language Association, United States Field Hockey Association and a PIAA member. Marianne was previously inducted into the Bernie Romanoski Chapter of the Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. She is currently employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a speech/language pathologist. She resides in Plymouth Township with her husband Dr. John H. Turosky, and children Ana, 13, and JD, 9.
