About This Inductee

Joe Hasay from Shickshinny, PA attended Northwest area High School from 1971-1975 where he was a four-year starter under the late-great legendary coach Ed Gayeski. Joe later attended and played basketball at West Chester University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in public health safety. As a member of the prestigious 2,000-point club for Pennsylvania High Schools, Joe amassed a total of 2,061 points, ranking only second only to Jake Handzelek in Shickshinny/Northwest History.

Joe led his teams to numerous Championships during his tenure at Northwest. These include the 1972 sweet sixteen class B state championships, 1973 final eight class C state championships, 1974 district IV champions, 1974 final four class c state championships with a record of 30-1, third place in the 1974 district IV championships, 1974 Susquehanna valley conference championship, 1975 final four class C state championships with a record of 28-1, 1975 Susquehanna Valley Conference Champions.

Joe’s personal accolades include the 1973 & 1974 first team all-conference Susquehanna Valley Basketball League, 1975 first team all-conference Susquehanna Valley Basketball League, 1974 UPI first team class C all state, 1974 AP Honorable mention All-State Pennsylvania Basketball, 1975 UPI first team class C all state, 1975 AP third team All-state Pennsylvania Basketball. As the TIMES LEADER player of the week, Joe appeared in SPORTS ILLUSTRATED faces in the crowd for making 41 consecutive free-throws.

Currently Joe is the President/CEO of United Paradyne Corporation, an aerospace company that specializes in providing payload/satellite rocket-fuel services for domestic and international space launch vehicles. Joe currently is the Broker/Owner of Hasay Properties, where it specializes in the sales of residential properties on the Central Coast of California. Joe is also a co-founder of Maritime Launch Services, formed to develop a space-launch complex for the cyclone 4M launch vehicle in Canso, Novia Scotia. Before co-founding United Paradyne Corporation, he worked at Lockheed Space Operations Company, Northrop Electronics Systems Division and Jacobs Engineering.

Joe has two children, a daughter Jordan, a world-class marathoner and Professional Runner for NIKE. And son Jedd who works under Hasay Properties where he specializes in real estate sales. Jedd currently lives in Costa Rica with his wife Elly, operating Airbnb/Vacation Homes called Playa Grande Surf Villas. Joe is a widower, with his wife Teresa having passed away in 2016. Mr. Hasay currently resides in Avila Beach, CA and still keeps in contact with his High School, where he provides an annual scholarship to the most outstanding student/athlete at Northwest Area High school.
