Jim Davis graduated from Northeast Bradford High School, earning six letters over four years in basketball and baseball. During his high school career, he played on five championship teams and was captain of the championship baseball and basketball teams during his senior year. In 1962 he graduated from Mansfield University where he played baseball and was part of a state championship team during his junior year. Jim coached most of his career at Northeast Bradford High School in Rome, PA. He was head baseball coach for 12 years; however, Jim is best known as a basketball coach, where he has compiled a record of 560 wins and 266 losses. In his 31 years of coaching basketball at Northeast Bradford, the Panthers won 11 league championships, 2 district IV championships, 3 district runners-up, 5 third and 4 fourth place district finishes. In 1987, Northeast reached the Eastern Finals and two other times Coach Davis guided teams to the Eastern Semifinals. In 1980, Northeast completed an undefeated regular season going 24 – 0. In his 31 year tenure, Northeast qualified for district playoffs 27 times. Jim has been named Coach of the Year several times and his 1980 team was picked as the Twin Tiers Champions. In 1991, District IV held their first All-Star game at Williamsport, PA. Jim has run his own basketball camp for 28 years. In 1983, Jim was part of the first group to be selected to the Northeast Bradford Hall of Fame. Jim taught chemistry at Northeast Bradford for 34 years and also served as Athletic Director for the last 25 years. In June of 1999, Jim retired as a teacher at Northeast Bradford. During the summer of 1999, Jim accepted a position as basketball coach at Athens Area High School, finishing with a record of 21 wins and 9 losses and placing second in the District IV tournament at the end of the season. Jim resides in LeRaysville, PA with his wife Linda. He has a daughter, Michelle, two sons, Jim and Brian, and two stepsons, Bob and Mike. Since his retirement, he and his wife have enjoyed spending considerable time with their children and grandchildren, Jimmy, Jessica, Jenelle, Victoria and Cody.
