About This Inductee

As a youngster, George played football, baseball, and basketball. At Pittston Area High School, George was a member of the 1978 District championship basketball team. 1978 Wyoming Valley Conference’s Most Valuable Player, he was a WVC All-Star selection (1977/1978). He received the Hughestown Sports Club’s “Gene Guarilla” Award for WVC’s Most Outstanding Player. He was a four-year starter at King‘s College and was Mid-Atlantic Conference All-League his junior year and MAC League MVP his senior year. He was the MVP of the Pocono Classic and the Moravian Classic his senior year. At the time of his graduation in 1982, he was the school’s second all-time leading scorer. George played three years with Scranton Miners Basketball. He played two years with the Washington Generals and traveled and played in 40 countries with the Harlem Globetrotters World Tour. George owns and operates Aldrich Medical Supply in Pittston and Clarks Summit. He coaches second and third grade basketball at the Avoca Community Center. An avid golfer, George is a member of the Glenmaura Golf Club. George resides in Avoca with his wife Jean Ann. They have three children: Julia, Lauren and William.
