About This Inductee

Gary graduated from Nanticoke Area High School in 1969, followed by graduation from Wilkes College in 1973 with a B.A. in physics, physical science and math. He earned his State Teaching Certification in physics, chemistry, general science and math. He earned his Masters Equivalency in Education. Gary never played high school sports, although he loved sports and played in many recreational and other organized leagues well into his adult life, including basketball, softball, volleyball and bowling. Gary began teaching in Greater Nanticoke Area in 1973 (7th grade life science and 8th grade physical science for 10.5 years) and high school chemistry, environmental science and general science for 24.5 years. He was head golf coach from 1978 to 1982, sending four players to States. He was assistant junior varsity baseball coach under Tom Kiewlak 1980-1981 and assistant girls jv basketball coach under Len Kaminski 1991-1994 and Jack Rentko 1995-2008, the teams winning many league and district II titles. He was head softball coach 1991-2012 with 330 wins, 6 league titles, 6 district II AA titles, 2 state championships and the first Wyoming Valley Conference team to win a State title. Gary is married to the former Ann Zubritski. They have twin daughters Kelsey and Hollie, who with their husbands Blair Cannon and Dennis Williams have three daughters, Emerson 7, Quinn 5 and Elyse 4.
