A 1958 graduate from Tunkhannock High School, where he excelled in sports and in the classroom. Fred was a Premier 5 Star Athlete, Football, baseball, basketball, volleyball and track earning 13 letters. .
Fred started for years in football and the tears were 27-0-1 during that time. His senior year he had 20 touchdowns and also extra points. He was the leading rusher and interception leader. Currently 2nd highest scorer in school history View All Scholastic Sunday Independent (W-B) and All Scholastic Scrantonian (Scranton) the only player to be named to both teams in the same year.
Baseball was another super sport for Fred, where he played on 2 undefeated teams 1957-1958. In track he earned three more varsity letters. They were District Champions these years. He also was state qualifier during that period. Basketball- he played and cured letters for 2 years in which the team was 5-0 Back Mountain and District Champions in 1957 and District Champions in 1958. Volleyball was another outstanding accomplishment. He lettered on the 1957 State Championship Team and the 1958 runner up teams. Fred continued his education at Bloomsburg State College where he received his Bachelor Degree in 1962 and Masters in 1965. He earned 4 varsity letters in football at Bloomsburg.
Fred taught at Wyoming Valley West School District for 39 years. During 22 of those years he was District Science Chairman, He wan an assistant football coach for 10 years. He coached baseball at the District from 1965-1979 with a record 108-77. He won five Central Division Championships and two Wyoming Valley League Titles. The only championship in school history in baseball at Kingston.
Fred resides with his wife Marti in Kingston, they have 5 girls: Patti, Marti, Cathi, Bessmarie and Michelle. They also have 9 grandchildren.
