About This Inductee

Frank is a graduate of St. Mary’s HS and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre.  He received his Master’s Degree at the University of Scranton and continued with graduate courses at Misericordia University.  From 1966 to the current time, Frank has officiated football and basketball contests on the scholastic and collegiate levels.  He officiated many District and State Championship games, along with accepting assignments from the ECAC and the NCAA.  From 1967-69 he was assistant athletic director at the Catholic Youth Center.  From 1969-70 he served as Supervisor of Recreation for the city of Wilkes-Barre.  From 1970-73 Frank served as athletic director of the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center.  In 1973 he started teaching at Bishop Hoban HS, serving as Dean of Students from 1974-78.  He became assistant HS principal at Bishop Hoban.  In February of 1990 he was appointed the first lay Principal of Bishop Hoban HS.  From August, of 1998 to the current time, Frank has been principal of the Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center.  Frank has contributed to his community in various capacities.  He has been chairman of St. Mary’s Parish Pastoral Counsel lector and usher, chairman of the Police Civil Service Commission, City of Wilkes-Barre.  He has been a volunteer with the CYC and United Way Agency.  He has been PIAA District 2 Committee Chairperson, interpreter of the Wyoming Basketball Officials Organization, secretary of the Wyoming Valley HS Basketball Conference, and President of the Wyoming Valley High School Swimming Conference.  Frank was a former President of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association, consisting of over 500 college officials from Maine to Virginia.  He has been on the PIAA State Board of Directors, vice president and chairman of Human Resources Committee.  He is a member of the Wyoming Valley Athletic Association and supervisor of College Basketball Officials for the NCAA and the ECAC, responsible for assigning and evaluating referees for 35 colleges.  Frank has been married 46 years to his wife Lore.  They have two children, Jennifer and Scott; and two grandchildren, Hunter Kruk and Harlow Kruk.
