Don “Eagle” Davis is a 1966 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and a 1971 graduate of Mansfield University.
Don lettered in football, volleyball, basketball, and golf. He won a the senior golf award in 1966. He has coached at Tunkhannock in a variety of sports: boys and girls swimming, jr. high basketball, softball, and assistant football coach, in which they were Eastern Conference Football Champions in 1998. He has also coached Tunkhannock Baseball Association, Legion Basketball, youth basketball and softball.
Don’s forte has been his volleyball teams. He started girls’ volleyball coaching at Tunkhannock in 1980, and has coached for 22 years. He has an outstanding record of 277 wins and 29 losses. He has won 15 District II Championships and 14 league championships. He was named Coach of the Year 10 times. 55 players have been selected 1st or 2nd team All-Conference. Ten players have been named MVP Sunday Independent and Citizens Voice. 12 players have been selected to the PA Volleyball Coaches All-State Team. 30 players have gone onto collegiate level. Three players are in the PA Volleyball Hall of Fame. He coached one of the original Jr. Olympic Development Programs 1983-1986. He coached Prudential Bache Club, both at high school and women’s level for 4 years. He coached at the Keystone Games for 3 years. Don’s 1986 team placed 3rd in Regionals in PA. High school teams have participated in 5 East Coast Championships. He is a board member of the PA Volleyball Association.
Don is retired and resides in Tunkhannock with his wife, Barbara. They have 3 children, Melissa, Matt, and Allison.
