About This Inductee

Dave grew up in Wilkes-Barre, Kingston and Clark Summit; he graduated from Kingston High School. Dave won the Luzerne County Open Tennis Tournament in singles three times, retiring the trophy, and at age 16 was the youngest-ever men‘s winner. He was PA State High School Tennis Singles Champion (1949) and PA State Junior Singles and Doubles Champion (1950). Dave graduated from Lafayette College where he was undefeated and team captain. In West Virginia, 1956-1959, Dave won seven state championships. In Delaware, 1963-1969, he became state tennis champion six times. In Delaware Senior Olympics (D.S.O.), Dave won eight gold medals for tennis – never being defeated from 1993-2003. In 1995 he won senior gold medals in tennis, table tennis, bowling and golf. In all Dave won 32 D.S.O. medals (23 gold) from 1992-2003 and holds two age group’s low gross golf records. In all, Dave amassed 24 state tennis championships. At National Senior Olympics he was fourth (1997) and eighth (1999) in bowling, third (1999) and fourth (2003) in tennis doubles. In 1998, he won the Delaware Senior Bowling Tournament. Dave’s league average was 199 (30 pins above US average). At DuPont Country Club, he was tennis and golf champion often and former president. He has taught tennis, gratis, for many decades.
