Old Forge

Dan Semenza was a football, basketball and baseball coach at Old Forge for 11 years. While there, he garnered a number of honors. In football, he won the county championship three times — 1931, 1932 and 1934. In basketball, he won the state Class A title, making Old Forge the only Lackawanna County team to do so. In 1932-1933 he won the Anthracite League championship, and in 1936, he coached the Bucktown A.A. girls team to the Eastern U.S. championship. In baseball, his Old Forge teams won the Southern Division championship three years — 1934, 1935 and 1941. In 1979, Semenza was elected to the Scranton Area Sports Hall of Fame.
