About This Inductee

Corey graduated from Wyoming Area High School and Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.  At Wyoming Area, Corey was a three-time letter winner in baseball from 2008 through 2010 (team captain in 2010).  He was recipient of the Wyoming Area Baseball Melberger Award in 2010 and also the recipient of the Greg Legg Diamond Scholarship.  He was voted to the 1st team All Wyoming Valley Conference Team in 2010.  He was a member of the Greater Pittston American Legion Team in 2009 and 2010.  The 2010 team won the WVC American Legion Championship.  He was voted to the WVC American Legion All-Star Team that won the Commander’s Cup in 2010.  At Bucknell University, he was a three-time letter winner for the Bucknell University Baseball Team from 2012 through 2014.  He was a two-time 1st team All Patriot League selection in 2013 and 2014.  He was voted team captain of the 2014 team that won the Patriot League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I College World Series (University of Virginia Regional)  He was a three-time Patriot League Baseball Player of the Week in 2014.  Cory led Bucknell in regular season batting average in 2013 and 2014.  He led the Patriot League in regular season batting average (.388) in 2014.  He finished top 5 in all major Patriot League hitting categories in 2014.  He was named District 1 player of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America in 2014, given to the MVP in NCAA D1 for a particular region in the United States.  (District 1 consists of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.)  Other recipients of the honor include District V:  Kyle Schwarber (Indiana University now Chicago Cubs); District VII: Aaron Nola (LSU now Philadelphia Phillies) & District IX: Michael Conforto (Oregon State now New York Mets).  Corey finished his career at Bucknell University with 118 games played, 110 hits totaled, and a career batting average of .315.  Corey is currently a Process Engineer at First Quality Nonwovens (Hazle Township, PA).  Corey is the son of Richard and Carolyn Furman. He currently resides in Exeter.
