Hushelpeck was a three-year captain for the Duryea High School girls’ basket-ball team from ’22 to ’24 during which the team won the league championship all three years. Although she averaged 25 points per game, Hushelpeck was also known as an outstanding ball handler and defensive player. In one game, she scored 67 points as Duryea defeated another local school 101-0. Agnes continued her basketball career at East Stroudsburg Teachers College where she was a member of the varsity team for three years and captain her junior and senior year. She averaged 26 points per game and was named All-American twice. After graduation, Hushelpeck taught at Duryea High School & Pittston Area Schools from 1927 until her retirement in 1972. She was married to Palmer Defazio, a football & basketball player.
