Stukowski starred in foot-ball, basketball and baseball at Swoyersville High School where they won three straight titles and he pitched two perfect games. He played for the Wilkes-Barre Barons and was promoted to the Cleveland Indians. Stukowski’s career ended when he entered the military in 1943 during World War II . He was involved in many invasions and was wounded in the neck by a sniper and became paralyzed on his right side. Despite being paralyzed, Stukowski pitched to many youngsters upon his return. After fighting many ailments due to his wound, Stukowski passed away in 1959. “Lefty” Stukowski was the son of the late Walter Stukowski and the late Mary Stukowski Rydzewski. He is survived by his sister, Mary Stukowski, three step-brothers, Bob, Bernard and Ted Ryzewski and a step-sister Celia Rydzewski.
