About This Inductee

Steven graduated from Northampton High School, where he was a four-time PIAA State Wrestling Qualifier (2002 to 2005).  He was two time PIAA State Place Winner in 2003 and 2004 and was NE Regional Champ in 2005 and runner-up in 2002, 2003 and 2004.  He was District XI champion in 2004 and 2005. Steven had 139 wins in high school wrestling and was ranked #1 in Public High Schools in Nation for Wrestling (2004).  He was All Junior National Team Freestyle First Team in 2005 and was 5th in High School Senior Nationals in Cleveland, OH. He was 5th in Cadet Nationals Greco Roman in 2003 and 2004 and 4th in Junior Nationals Greco Roman in 2005.  He was 5th in Junior Nationals Freestyle in 2005. Steven earned a B.S. in Elementary Certification Education at Drexel University, Philadelphia. In 2006 Steven was on the preseason All CAA Rookie first team and elected PA Junior National Coach for Freestyle.  In 2007 he was Binghamton Bearcats Open Champion. He was captain of Drexel’s Wrestling Team in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and voted Team MVP in 2010. He was the Wilkes Open Champion in 2008 and 2010 and Wilkes Open Outstanding Wrestler in 2010. He placed 6th in the Sunkist International Open in 2010.  At Drexel, he was a four-time NCAA Division I National Qualifier (2006-2010) and had the most wins in Drexel’s history (137 wins). He was University Freestyle National Champion in 2011 and had the most major decisions in NCAA Wrestling (15) in 2008. He was Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion in 2010, CAA rookie of the Year in 2006 (the first in Drexel’s history).  He placed third in the University Freestyle Nationals in 2010 and third in University Greco Nationals in 2009. He placed third in Northeast Rockport Regional Freestyle in 2009 and Top 12 in the U.S. Open in 2010 and 2011. From 2007-2010 Steven volunteered with Athletes Helping Athletes (AHA), an organization at Drexel that involved athletes mentoring incoming athletes, monitoring their academics as well as time management with their studies and athletics.  Steven’s coaching experience includes assistant wrestling coach at Bloomsburg University from August 2010 to present, also head wrestling coach at Keystone College in LaPlume, PA. From 2011-2014 Steven was employed by Lehigh Valley Athletic Club (Athlete-Olympic Circuit at Lehigh University). He is also head strength and conditioning coach/assistant wrestling and head girls softball coach at Wyoming Seminary Preparatory High School (2014-present). Steven also was head coach of Pennsylvania Wrestling from 2005 to 2015. Some of his Olympic Freestyle Circuit highlights are placing fourth on the World Team Trials in 2013 and 7th in the U.S. Open.  He was in the Top 8 in the Dave Schultz International Open in 2011. He placed 6th in 2010, 4th in 2012 and 4th in 2013 in the Sunkist International Open. He attended the U.S. National Team Training Camp at Cornell University in 2010 and at the Olympic Training Center in 2011. He placed third in University Freestyle Nationals in 2010 and 3rd in University Greco Nationals in 2009. He placed 3rd in NE Regional Freestyle in 2009 and in the Top 12 in U.S. Open in 2010 and 2011. He was University Freestyle National Champion in 2011. Steven went on International Tours in Russia and Cuba in 2013.
