Sara Myers began playing field hockey when she was 11 years old. A dual sport athlete in high school, field hockey was her first love. Her experience playing for the Crestwood Comets gave her a strong foundation in the sport while inspiring a work ethic that helped her thrive. She was a three-year starter for the Comets, an All-State honoree and earned All-Wyoming Valley Conference honors. She was a proud member of four District Championship Teams. Making a run in the State Playoffs every year helped feed her competitive spirit and gave her a drive to work for that same success in collegiate athletics.
Myers continued her academic and athletic career at Susquehanna University where she started every game for all four of her years. A team captain both her Junior and Senior Year she led SU to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Myers was twice named Defensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. She was an All-Conference Selection as a Center Back.
After college Myers accepted a graduate assistant position at Goucher College where she received her MEd in Athletic Administration and Leadership. Myers was then named the Head Field Hockey Coach and Assistant Softball Coach at The University of Scranton at the age of 23. Her first season she was named MAC Freedom Field Hockey Coach of the Year for their successful run in the MAC Championship.
She then spent 10 years as the Head Coach of Wilkes University where her teams shattered previous records and remained at the top of the MAC Freedom Conference. In her time at Wilkes her team broke the school record for most wins in a season with a record of 18-4 and a year later Wilkes finished 15-4 and made a second straight trip to the ECAC postseason. Wilkes became regionally and nationally ranked during both of those seasons for the first time in school history. Over her 10 years at Wilkes her teams made the MAC Freedom playoffs every year. She coached 36 All-MAC Conference Players and six Rookie of the Year Selections, two Offensive Players of the Year and three Defensive Players of the Year. She was twice named MAC Freedom Coach of the Year while at Wilkes University, a three-time recipient of the Coach of the Year Award in total. Myers achieved 100 Career wins on September 6, 2017 and she achieved 100 Wilkes Wins on September 13, 2018. She also served as the Assistant Athletic Director.
Myers is currently the owner of BRAVE field hockey club in Northeast Pennsylvania. BRAVE’s mission is rooted in developing strong and confident female athletes. BRAVE offers high level training and also a safe place for female athletes to learn and grow in the sport. Myers received her Certificate in Mental Performance Training in January 2023. Working with athletes across the entire Northeast is a dream come true.
All the joy and success Sara has found in the sport of field hockey through her time as an athlete, coach, administrator and club owner is attributed to the people she surrounds herself with. Myers would like to sincerely thank all her coaches, colleagues, teammates and student athletes who made this journey so memorable. None of this would be possible without every single one of them.
Myers resides in Wapwallopen and is married to her husband Greg. They have three daughters Allie, Emma and Lane. They are her reason for everything.
