Robert H. Carlson

About This Inductee

Robert graduated from Kingston High School, lettering 2 years in basketball, named co-captain in his senior year. He was voted MVP of the Rodgers Tournament at the Wilkes-Barre YMCA two years. Bob was awarded a four-year basketball scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania. He was high scorer and All Ivy League selection on the Championship 1944-1945 team. He scored in every game in his four years at Penn. He was captain and MVP in their 1948-1949 season. He was selected as outstanding athlete in the Class of 1949 and graduated with honors with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Bob was also president of the Penn Varsity Club and president of the Class of 1949. Bob was high scorer in the Industrial Basketball League in New Castle, PA from 1949 to 1951, and high scorer on championship teams in the South New Jersey Industrial League from 1953 to 1955. Bob is also an avid runner, running every day for over 20 years (over 28,000 miles). Bob was a registered professional engineer for Universal-Rundle Corporation for 41 years and retired as President and CEO of that corporation. He is very active in civic affairs in the New Castle area at this time. Robert and his wife Martha reside in New Castle, PA.
