About This Inductee
Michael graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School in 1988. He attended Old Dominion University 1988-1990 and earned a BS. Degree from Wilkes University in 1996-97.
An outstanding all-around athlete at Tunkhannock, Mike was a junior star in football. wrestling and baseball. A Junior High District champ in wrestling and baseball, District champs and All-Star Team, Mike continued his outstanding athletic career in high school making the all-regional football team twice and MVP Wyoming Valley Conference in 1987. He has a record of 20 interceptions at Tunkhannock. He started in the UNICO Game and was nominated 10 33 team. Wrestling: he was District Il runner up at 189 bs Baseball: 3 times all regional team as a pitcher. He was on the District Changconsky team as a Junior.
Mike played baseball at Old Dominion and was the all time save leader (13) and helped them to the runner up in the Sunbelt Conference Championship.
As a Division I recruit in baseball, football and wrestling, Mike signed with the San Diego Padres in 1991.
Mike’s 93 mile-per-hour fastball helped him achieve 3 great seasons until a severe shoulder injury ended his career.
