Linda graduated from Haddon Heights High School where she participated in field hockey, basketball and softball. She received her BS in Health and Physical Education at Ursinus College, with a minor in Athletic Training and Recreation. She participated in field hockey, badminton, softball and lacrosse at Ursinus. She took a position as physical education teacher and coach of 7th & 8th-grade field hockey, basketball and softball at Oaklyn Elementary/Middle School for two years, followed by one year at Souderton High as 9 – 12th-grade physical education teacher and assistant varsity lacrosse coach. Linda then spent three years at Crestwood School District as K-6th grade physical education teacher and assistant varsity field hockey coach (under Elvetta Gemski). Next, she became the varsity field hockey coach for 22 seasons at Wyoming Valley West High School, with a record of 348-132-14. She also taught health and physical education there for 19 years. Under her guidance at Wyoming Valley West, the field hockey team became State champions in 2003 and State runners-up in 2017. They had a total of 10 District championships (8 AAA and 2AA), and were AAA runners-up six times. Her teams made 21 out of 22 season playoff appearances and received a team academic award 8 out of 8 years running. They also received the sportsmanship award in 2008. Linda has coached 22 All-American Academic student/athletes as of 1998 and 37 All-State Academics. She coached one All-American (April Fronzoni) and 6 All-Americans in the Mid-East Region. She had 17 student/athletes All-State First Team. The daughter of the late Bill and Joan Fithian, Linda resides in the Wapwallopen area. She has a brother Bill, nephew Billy and niece Laura.
