About This Inductee

Katlin O’Hara graduated from Wyoming Valley West in 2007.  During her time there, she was a three-sport athlete in swimming, water polo, and track & field. Katlin had a perfect high school district swimming career with 20 gold medals. In each of her freshman and sophomore years, she won gold medals in the 200 Individual medley, 100 backstroke, 200 medley relay and 200 free relay, as well as a team championship gold. During each of her junior and senior years, she won gold medals in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay, and a team championship gold medal.

Katlin had numerous pool, meet and school records throughout her career, including district meet records, pool, and school record in the 100 backstroke her senior year. She was a eight-time Speedo Swimming All-American Consideration Athlete, ten-time National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) top 16 award and All-State honorable mention recipient, sixteen-time Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State competitor, fourteen-time Pennsylvania High School Swimming Coaches Association (PHSSCA) All-State Honors, three-time PIAA District Two (AAA) female swimmer of the year, and four time All-Star and MVP swim team awards.

While in high school, Katlin also excelled in water polo where she was a three-time All-American water polo consideration athlete, four-time All-State water polo selection, captain, and the leading scorer of her high school team the last three years. In the off season, Katlin won numerous district II track and field medals in the 800m and 4 x 800m relay. She was a Wendy’s Heisman state finalist and also a High School Sports Woman of the Year Inductee for the 2007 Luzerne County Hall of Fame.

Katlin graduated in the top 2% of her class at Wyoming Valley West where she went on to earn a full scholarship to continue her swimming career at Syracuse University.  At Syracuse, she earned multiple Big East swimming honors and was also selected as a Big East academic all-star. She completed her collegiate swimming career by setting or re-setting seven Syracuse University school records, several which still stand today. Katlin graduated Magna Cum Lada from Syracuse University with a degree in biochemistry.

Katlin earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Athletically she has competed in several triathlons, as well as half and full marathons. She volunteers her time with the Mecklenburg County Swimming Special Olympics and professionally volunteered her time at the Boston Marathon, Washington D.C. Marine Corps Marathon, Susan G. Komen 3 Day for a Cure, and numerous other events. 

Katlin currently is a podiatrist at Carolina Podiatry Group and resides in Charlotte, NC. She believes that she would not be where she is today without the support of her parents, Jerry and Tracy O’Hara, and brother and fellow Hall of Fame inductee, Joseph O’Hara, and all the family, friends, and coaches who never gave up on her.
