About This Inductee

James is a 1964 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. While at Central Catholic, he played football from 1960 to 1963. While at Cisco Junior College in Cisco, Texas (1964-65), he was captain of the football team for two years and made All-Conference in 1965. He attended Louisiana College from 1965 to 1969, and was captain for two years, made All-Conference in 1969, and was MVP Lineman in 1969. He graduated from Louisville College with a B.A. in Secondary Health and Physical Education. He also received PA certification from Penn State. James taught Health Safety, Physical Education, and was assistant baseball coach at St. Francisville High School, St. Francisville, La., from 1970 to 1974, and head track coach in 1970. He presently teaches at Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he has held various positions. He was assistant coach and defensive coordinator from 1970 until 1974; Head football coach from 1975 until 1981 with a record of 22-55-1. From 1981-1983, he was assistant coach at Muhlenburg College in Allentown, Pa., and assistant coach and defensive coordinator for Parkland High School, Orfield, Pa., from 1983-1989. He has been head football coach since 1990 at Central Catholic High School with a record of 47-13. He also serves as athletic trainer at the school, and was head interim basketball coach for the 1980 season. James’ honors include: Lehigh Valley Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Class of 1994; Lehigh Valley Morning Call and Easton Express, Coach of the Year in 1993; Lehigh Valley Morning Call and Easton Express, Team of the Year in 1993 and 1994; Head coach of Lehigh Valley McDonald’s Classic, 1983, 1992, and 1995; Most wins in football at Allentown Central Catholic High School; 2 East Penn Conference Titles-1993 and 1994; 3 District II titles-1991, 1993, and 1994; PIAA, AAA State Title in 1993; Head football coach for the First Annual All-American Bowl in 1993; Assistant coach for the 1993 PA Big 33 team; Ranked third nationally by U.S.A. Today during 1994 season; Ranked tenth nationally by U.S.A. Today during 1993 season; School record 26 game winning streak, 1993 and 1994 seasons. James belongs to the McDonald’s Classic Board of Directors, Central Catholic SAP Team, PA Coaches Association, and PA Trainers Association. He is married to the former Kathryn Morgans and they have seven children, Jamie, Tracy, Wendy, Jim, Mary, Billy, and K.C.
