Gary attended Meyers High School, starring in football, baseball and basketball. He was named baseball and football All-Scholastic and MVP. Gary held significant records as a Mohawk quarterback for decades, however his baseball talent led to his selection by the Atlanta Braves straight out of high school in 1972. He was selected by the Braves in the seventh round (155^th overall) and spent several seasons pitching for them. Gary later attended Luzerne County Community College and Wilkes University following his baseball career.  He worked in sales for over 29 years attaining the level of regional sales manager. Gary, outside of work was involved with the Luzerne County Recreation Department with softball and flag football. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and an enthusiastic golfer. Gary passed away in 2021 following a courageous battle with cancer.
