About This Inductee

Francis X. Baur grew up in Forty Fort, PA with his parents Frank Sr. and Rosalie, brother Mike and sister Michele. Football played a large roll in Frank’s early years, representing the NY Giants in the Ford Motor Company’s Punt, Pass, & Kick national competition at the Yale Bowl, the new Giants Stadium, RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, and the old Sombrero in Tampa, coming within one win two separate years of making it to the Super Bowl.

During his high school years at Wyoming Valley West, Frank played for Coach Jim Fennell and as a senior led the Spartans to a 10-1 record into the playoffs, losing to Bo Orlando and the USA Today #1 ranked Berwick Bulldogs, the mythical national champions that year.  Frank went on to play in the PA Big 33 game in Johnstown.

Frank was a three-year starter for the Spartan basketball team coached by Sandy Mackay, scoring over 1100 points and being named a 2-time First Team All-Scholastic player.   Frank’s senior season saw the Spartans in the district championship game at the Scranton CYC, losing on a last-second shot by Hazleton’s Pat Brogan, an eventual friend at Lafayette College.

Upon high-school graduation, Frank spent a post-graduate year at Wyoming Seminary playing for Marv Antinnes.  After dropping the first game, the Blue Knights went on to win their remaining games, highlighted by a triple reverse flea flicker from mid-field to win the homecoming game.

As a freshman at Lafayette College in Easton, PA, Frank was the sixth quarterback of six on the depth chart early on but rose all the way to be the varsity starting quarterback by homecoming against James Madison.  Frank went on to lead Lafayette for four years, winning a Patriot League championship, being named First Team 1-AA All-American, East Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Patriot League Player of the Year, led the nation (all divisions) in Pass Efficiency, and Sports Illustrated featured him on the cover for the 1989 College Football Preview Issue.   Frank played in the Hula Bowl and Blue-Gray football all-star games in 1990.

Frank graduated from Lafayette with a degree in Music and has been married to the former Cheryl Reabuck for 28 years. Together they have 3 children, Julia, Ava, & Jakob. Frank is a Doctor of Audiology and co-owner of Amplified Hearing LLC in Hanover Twp, PA.
