About This Inductee

Dr. Finan graduated from St. Rose (Sacred Heart) High School in Carbondale, Pennsylvania in 1967. He received a B.S. in Health Sciences and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University in 1971, and a M.Ed., in Health Sciences and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg in 1973. Dr. Finan received a Pennsylvania Principal Certification in 1979, and a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter in 1985 from the University of Scranton. In 1993, he graduated from Fordham University with an Ed.D. in Educational Administration. From 1971-1972 and again from 1980-1983, Dr. Finan was assistant varsity basketball coach for East Stroudsburg University. From 1972 until 1979, he served as teacher and department chairperson for Health and Physical Education at Honesdale High School. He was also the varsity basketball coach while at Honesdale H.S. with a record of 134 wins and 44 losses. From 1979 to 1984, he was assistant principal at Delaware Valley High School. Dr. Finan is active in numerous sports and professional organizations throughout the area. He is District 12 assistant chairperson; District 12 Soccer and Swimming chairperson; Board of Directors, Basketball Tournament Director, Easter Seals Shoot-Out Chairperson, and Youth Exchange Coordinator for the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club. He held the position of President of the Milford-Matamoras Rotary Club from 1992-1993, and as Vice-President from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Finan is on the Rotary District 7410 Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee; serves the PIAA as a basketball and football official; is a football official for New York State and the Empire Football League; is a varsity basketball official for ECAC; basketball official for IAABO; and is football championship official for New York State.
