About This Inductee

Dr. Raklewicz attended Kingston High School, graduating in 1964. He lettered in wrestling four years, football three years and track three years. He was All-Scholastic and All-State Football “Big 33” in 1963, runner-up District Champion heavyweight, and ran the 100 yard dash and the 200. In his senior year at Kingston, he was a member of the 1963 undefeated 10 — 0 team. “Rack ‘Em Up” Raklewicz had a total of 23 touchdowns, 11 extra points and a total of 1,836 yards rushing. The 1963 Kingston team was voted by The Times Leader Newspaper as one of the 10 Best Teams to ever play in Wyoming Valley. Mike has attributed a lot of his success at Kingston High to his coach, “I have the greatest respect for the late Jim Fennel as a football coach and as a man. He will always be in my heart as he taught me a lot about sports and life.” Mike went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1968. He lettered at Pitt in football three years, playing both fullback and middle linebacker. He also lettered in wrestling (heavyweight) in 1967. Presently, Dr. Raklewicz is senior partner/surgeon of Orthopedic Consultants of Wyoming Valley. He resides with wife Carolann and daughter Emma at Harvey’s Lake and is involved in recreational sports, bicycling and walking as often as possible.
