Dr. Charles Rushefski

About This Inductee

Dr. Charles Rushefski, Assistant Superintendent of the Elk Lake School District excelled in both academic and athletics at Old Forge High School. After graduating from Old Forge High School, he attended Lackawanna Junior College and graduated from the University of Scranton with a B.S. in Business/Secondary Education, a M.S. in Secondary Administration, and attained his Elementary/Secondary principal certification. While at the University of Scranton he received, upon graduation, the Lay Faculty Citizenship Award. Dr. Rushefski received his Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from Lehigh University. He was awarded certification from Temple University as Director of Vocational Education and received his Doctor of Education Degree (D.Ed.) in Administration from Nova/Southeastern University. Dr. Rushefski taught business at Montrose Area for nine years; was vice-principal at Montrose for five years; and has served as Principal, Vocational Director, and Assistant Superintendent at Elk Lake for eighteen years. He was past president of Region #19 Administrators and The Susquehanna Co., Business Teachers Association. Dr. Rushefski is currently serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the Northern Tier Industry/Education Conference; and as vice-president of Region 7 of the Pennsylvania Association of Vocational Administrators. He is also a member of Omicion Tau Theta Vocational Organization. A former U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Dr. Rushefski is a charter member of the Northeast Athletic Conference and has served as Executive Director for the past fourteen years. He is the Secretary/Treasurer of the District 12 PIAA for the past thirteen years. He is coordinator of the District 12 Boys/Girls Basketball Championship along with the District 12 Baseball/Softball Championships. A former Athlete of the Week, Dr. Rushefski was a two-year All-Scholastic and recipient of the Joe M. Butler Award for Service to Youth in Sports in 1992. He was recently inducted into the Chic Feldman Area Sports Hall of Fame (1995). Charlie is married to the former Audrey Argonish, and the couples have a daughter, Lisa Armetta. The Rushefskis are blessed with three grandchildren, Vinnie, Christine, and Charlie.
