Dave graduated from Coughlin High School, where he played baseball, basketball and football. He was selected as one of five most outstanding athletes and selected as the best all around athlete at the school. In football he was selected for the Unsung Hero Award and selected to play in the East West All-Star Game. In baseball he batted .500 in his senior year and was selected on the All Conference Dream Team at second base. In basketball, Dave participated in the All-Star Game. After graduation, he attended Wilkes College receiving his Mathematics Degree in 1976. At Wilkes, he earned four letters in football as safety and cornerback. He led the team in interceptions with 124 career interceptions. He was selected for the All Middle Atlantic Conference First Team for the 1975-1976 football season. Dave was also a four letter winner in baseball at Wilkes, batting .479 in his sophomore year and was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player. In his junior year he batted .439 and again led the team in hitting. As a senior, Dave served as co-captain of the team which won the Mid East Regional Tournament and advanced to participate in the College World Series. He finished his career at Wilkes with a .389 career batting average. 37 stolen bases, and he still holds the Wilkes record for hits in six consecutive plate appearances. He was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference First Team three years. Dave was elected to the Wilkes University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999. After graduating from Wilkes, Dave began teaching and coaching at Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson, New Jersey. He was assistant varsity football coach, assistant varsity baseball coach and head girl’s basketball coach. For his work in turning the girl’s basketball program around, Dave was selected as Coach of the Year in 1991. His team won the Conference Championship that year and finished second the following year. Dave was then promoted to administration and left coaching. He currently serves as the Vice-Principal of Jackson Memorial High School. Dave has been married to the former Anne Marie Kollesar of Wilkes-Bane since 1980. They now reside in Toms River, New Jersey, with their two daughters, Maria, 17 and Laura 15, both outstanding athletes in basketball and field hockey.
