About This Inductee

As a young girl, Colleen was involved with gymnastics. During junior high school at Wilkes-Barre Township and high school at Coughlin in Wilkes-Barre, she earned 9 varsity letters in field hockey, basketball, swimming & diving, softball and track & field. As a sophomore, she qualified for districts in diving. At Mansfield University, she was a four-year starter in field hockey, team captain, and selected twice for the Mid-East team. She also captained the swimming & diving team, qualifying for the State meet her senior year. Colleen coached soccer at GAR High School as an assistant for 5 years and head coach one year. In 1997, the team made the playoffs for the first time and she was named Coach of the Year by two newspapers. She has also coached basketball as an assistant at Plains Junior High for 2 years. She has been the head field hockey coach at Coughlin High School for the past 15 years, making the district playoffs 11 of those years and the district finals 5 years. In 2004 and 2005, the teams won the District championship. In 2004, they were the State runner-up and in 2005 made the State quarterfinals. She is presently employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a life skills teacher and coach. Colleen and her husband James reside in Plains with their two children: Caitlin (age ll) and Brigid (age 8).
