About This Inductee

Christopher Shovlin resides in Kingston, Pa with his wife Candice, both proud parents of six sons. Chris is a 2004 graduate of GAR High School and attended Monmouth University and Wilkes University. While attending GAR, Chris scored 2,564 points to become the school’s all-time leading scorer. He is ranked second all time in the Wyoming Valley District II Conference. Chris was a four-time Wyoming Valley Conference District II All-Scholastic selection and named MVP of the conference three times. Chris was also selected PIAA District All-State First Team three times. During his senior year at GAR, he led the PIAA District II in scoring (30 ppg), three-point shots, and steals. In 2003, Chris attended the prestigious Nike Camp in Indiana. He received a division one scholarship from Monmouth University but opted to come home and play in his hometown at Wilkes University. Chris played for Coach Jerry Rickrode and was named to the first and second team of the MAC Freedom League Conference and earned “Rookie of the Year” honors.  During his years at Wilkes, he scored over a thousand points. Moving ahead to 2017, Chris played with the NEPA Stars and Stripes Basketball Association (ABA) for the 2017-18 season. His 37 points per game tied him with Dave Januzzi as the team’s leading scorers. In 2018, Chris and Dave became co-owners of the Wyoming Valley Clutch ABA basketball team. Chris became the team’s leading scorer and was named to the First Team ABA All-Star team in his team’s inaugural season. For several years, Chris has been involved coaching the Wyoming Valley West and JCC Youth Basketball programs. He also has helped a variety of youth organizations. He continues his co-ownership of the highly successful Wyoming Valley Clutch ABA Basketball Team. In addition, he has helped form the Wyoming Valley Jr. Clutch Team and the S&J Clutch Basketball Academy. These programs are designed to teach the sport and the skills needed to be successful at the next level and provide the exposure players need to show those abilities. Chris loves working with the area’s youth, and having the opportunity to share his experiences, his skills, and most importantly his love for the game of basketball. Chris knows it takes heart, hard work, and determination to do your best in order to step on the court. Giving his best is all Chris ever wanted to do.
