About This Inductee

Graduate of East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, 1947 (B.S. degree) and Bucknell University, 1950 (Masters degree). Began teaching and coaching career at Lehman Twp., fall of 1947. Coached football, basketball, and baseball. Evolution of the Lehman Twp. School District via jointures provided opportunities to coach different entities such as Lehman Twp., Lehman-Jackson, and Lehman-Jackson-Ross Twps. During coaching tenure, 1947-1954, football teams enjoyed the most success winning the “Old Shoe Trophy” as Lehman Twp. in 1949, Lehman-Jackson in 1950, and Lehman-Jackson-Ross in 1953 and 1954. Appointed first principal of Lehman-Jackson-Ross High School, July, 1955, and exchanged coaching for Administration of Academies and Athletics. Assisted in the final consolidation of school districts when Lake-Noxen Twps. joined Lehman-Jackson-Ross and formed the Lake-Lehman School District in 1958. Also served the academic community as a member of the Executive Commit-tee of the Pennsylvania Association of Secondary School Principals and as president of this association in 1972. In 1965 became a member of the District II P.I.A.A. committee. Served as Treasurer of District Two during the most capable leadership of Chairmen Frank S. Zavacki and Thomas R. Kelly. Elected to the Chairmanship of District Two in 1975; served 13 years in that capacity. During this period, he had the privilege of serving as a member of the state P.I.A.A. Board of Control; elected by this body as Treasurer from 1984-1988. A great deal of joy and satisfaction was gained by his’serving very talented, interesting, and dedicated people throughout the Commonwealth, and most especially, those in District Two whom he found were seldom equalled and never surpassed. Married to the former Virginia King. Two children, Linda, married and residing in Fairfax, Va., and Mark, an attorney in Richmond.
