Amy Viti, raised in Sugar Notch, PA, began her track & field/cross country career competing for Hanover Area. During her time at Hanover, she was a two-time PIAA State Qualifier for cross country and a two-time qualifier for track & field. She earned a total of 11 District 2 medals including a district gold in the 400m dash her senior year, which she also went on to achieve a 3rd place medal at the state championships that same year. She was the District 2 PIAA Scholar-Athlete and team MVP for both cross country/track & field for Hanover. Additionally, she was named to the Citizen’s Voice, Times Leader, and Wyoming Valley Strider All Star Teams.

Amy’s success really took off during her collegiate years at Misericordia University, under the guidance of Head Coach Chris Wadas. A current school record holder in 5 individual events and a member of 3 record relay teams, she earned 19 individual and relay gold Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) titles in total in indoor and outdoor track & field and was awarded Rookie of the Year and Track Athlete of the Year in her freshman and senior years respectively. She was a five-time NCAA track & field qualifier and a three-time All-American in the 800m run with 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place finishes in her career. She was a three-time USATF and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American and five-time CoSIDA All-American. On top of that, she was deemed a three-time Wendy’s Athlete of the Month and Wendy’s Athlete of the Year her senior year.

Academically, Amy maintained a perfect 4.0, not only earning her valedictorian honors but also she was a two-time NCAA Elite 90 Award Recipient, awarded to the athlete with the highest academic average and the most credits completed competing at a NCAA championship. Furthermore, she was a three-time Scholar-Athlete of the Year for cross country, indoor/outdoor track & field, and the Misericordia ECAC Robbins Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

From a team standpoint, Amy helped lead the women’s cross country, indoor, and outdoor track & field teams to their first MAC championships, coming out on top in all three in both her junior and senior years for a total of six consecutive titles. She was a five-time MAC sportsmanship award recipient and voted team MVP by her peers twice.

The most prestigious award within her career would be the NCAA Woman of the Year Top 9 Finalist, in which 3 individuals from each division across the country are chosen based on athletic achievement, academic excellence, and service and leadership. She became the first honoree from the (MAC) in the history of the award, representing Misericordia in Indianapolis, NCAA headquarters in 2016.

Currently, Amy is a speech-language pathologist working in the Hanover Area School District. She is the head girl’s track & field coach at Crestwood School District and assistant cross country coach. She is also a Resident Counselor for King’s College and Clinical Supervisor for Misericordia University.
